While there is still debate and discussion of the actual timing and sequence of events between Jesus' entry into Jerusalem to a rousing and triumphal welcome and His crucifixion, burial, resurrection and ascension to The Father, there is little debate and discussion that today is called Good Friday and we treat it as a special day in Christianity.
Here at Source of Light we take half the day and gather as a group, in smaller groups, to pray to God, thanking Him for the blessings we have received, thank Him for answered prayers, and pray for needs of SLMI and the individuals who are part of it or impacted by it. We pray, in Jesus' name, directly to the God of the universe, the creator of all things letting Him know that we need Him, desire to be in closer relationship with Him, and that we trust and believe Him in all aspects of our life and seek to serve Him and be obedient to His will and purpose for us. We pray a lot here at SLMI. Every day starts with prayer and we pray with the certainty that God hears us, is already aware of our needs and that He will answer in ways which may surprise or amaze us; but, He will answer every prayer as He wills and in His timing.
When we speak to God and when He speaks to us, there is a peace which defies description and a calm which blankets our life, that makes even the toughest of situations, the most painful incident, or the most discouraging moment seem totally bearable and under control. I can't count the number of times God has solved an impossible problem, fixed something which was broken or healed a hurt which hurt real bad. Prayer works and God wants to hear us pray even though He knows what we will pray before we even utter a word and His response is already in the works.
Today is a good Good Friday as is every day a good day when we have God as our Father, Jesus as our brother and The Holy Spirit as our counsellor. What better friends could any of us have on a daily basis, now and forevermore? Happy Good Friday........and remember..........Sunday's a Comin'.

Hi Hal & Karen, You have been on my mind the last few days. I just read your blog for Good Friday and was blessed. Sunday is HERE and He is RISEN! We praise God for all His many blessings, but mainly for providing us with salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. May you be blessed on this Resurrection Sunday! Lynda & Lew (Poughkeepsie, NY)
