God created the heavens and earth, a vast expanse of time and
space. Even though Adam was created in a
garden with all he needed to survive, he soon found himself sent out from the
garden and wandered beyond its confines.
The story of mankind is one of wandering and moving from place to
place. Many of the heroes of the faith
were told by God to leave their homes and go to a different place. Abraham wandered, Moses wandered. Even after
the Israelites settled in the land promised to Abraham, there are countless
instances of those who travelled to pursue God’s will, or spread the word. Jesus wandered in Judea and Galilee, the
first disciples were sent to preach the words of Jesus to the Jews and Paul wandered on numerous missionary journeys to preach Jesus Christ to the
gentile world. In Matthew 28, we are
told by a resurrected, living Jesus to go and make disciples of all nations and
as disciples we are heeding that directive and taking the Good News of Jesus Christ
to the “nation” of America, where we are seeing a huge void in the spiritual
health of our people.
As Karen and I have travelled around this country and even into part of
Ontario, more than 40,000 miles since September, 2011, we have been overwhelmed
by the thirst of people in the small towns and rural area for a more meaningful
life and a reason to continue in their work, raise their families and pass on
something of value to their children and grandchildren. We see a hunger for someone to listen to
their hopes and fears, to encourage and uplift them as they search for a
meaning for their life and the troubles and sorrows which tend to drag them
down or create fear of the future. We
don’t have all the answers, but we do know that Jesus Christ has been the
answer to our anxieties, fears, uncertainties and by His grace and mercy we
have been given new life, and the hope of a sure and certain future beyond the
days we have left on this earth. We want
to continue to preach the Word, not as ordained ministers or educated
theologians, but as ordinary people with a call God placed on our lives during
our 40 day, “2013 Reunion trip” of 7000 miles thru 17 states and Ontario, to
travel where He leads us, to meet whoever He places in our path and try to be
light where there is darkness, a bearer
of hope where there is despair and being Jesus where He is not known or not
followed.
We want to be Jesus-directed and obedient to the leading of the Holy
Spirit. We have no planned itinerary or
timetable. God is our roadmap and our
clock. We go wherever and whenever He
calls.
Awesome! God bless you both as you enter this exciting time of new ministry and new lifestyle. Lots of love to you from Mike and Linda.
ReplyDeleteYou two are an inspiration to us! We can't wait to read and hear about all of the people you have touched along your travels. God has blessed you both. Love, Michelle, Keith and Sammy
ReplyDeleteGlad to be able to start following this. Thanks for stepping out and sharing your lives.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless our brave and faithful friends. We pray for you often. Larry& Kari
ReplyDeleteGive the Branzell's (Russ, Kathy and Emily) a big hug from all of us in Fort Collins. I am jealous of your ability to eat ice cream in what should be warm climes. We have not been above 0 degrees for 5 days until yesterday when it finally climbed to 16 degrees. Claim it will be 30 today, doubt it. Anyway, have not had the urge to go to the ice cream parlor even though my addiction is as yours is.
ReplyDeleteShiloh is doing well and evidently has attracted the attention of Satan as over the past couple of weeks he has thrown a number of obstacles in several of our families paths. Susie Becker and Evan Sampson both destroyed their cars, but fortunately were not seriously hurt. Primary cause was ice and snow. We know Satan will not win this battle.
Bless you both, call when you can.
Mike and Linda Richardson

ReplyDeleteWe were blessed to be in your 10 am teaching this morning and the upper room yesterday. Could have spent the whole day talking and listening to you. May God bless you and guide you in all you do. What a wonderful way to learn more about our Lord.
