Tomorrow Karen and a I will have been married for 47 years. Forty-seven years ago I would not have ever imagined that I would be looking ahead and saying what I just said about still be married, or even still being alive in 2021. Our backgrounds were totally different, we were both coming off marriages that had not been good to us, and we really didn't have any idea what our future had in store for us or any real plans of any kind.
But from 1974 to the present, we have seen our lives change numerous times. Our plans didn't necessarily end up as we thought they would, but we lived pretty spontaneously, took a number of risks, found Jesus and then let Him lead us to some interesting places and lasting relationships and a truly blessed life. God has been good to us, and we have able to trust Him unconditionally when we faced each challenge or obstacle.
What is going on in America and the world now is unprecedented and everyone has been stretched beyond what they have ever experienced before. Our faith has sustained us and is the foundation which has sustained our marriage, too. What is ahead, only God knows, but we are determined to lean on HIM, and listen to Him as He guides us on the path He has for us.
Happy Anniversary, Hon. I don't tell you as often as I should, how much I love and appreciate you. Forty-seven years............what a ride. Thank you, Karen.........and Thank You, Lord.
