We have reached the west coast of the East Coast, settled into Homosassa, Florida for the next week. We have reconnected with our friends Mike and Linda from Colorado (Fort Collins and Colorado Springs) who are visiting family here and are also beginning a ministry to police, military, firefighters and emergency responders. They too, are going to be living in a motor home, traveling to various annual meetings and reaching out to others with the hope of Jesus Christ. Their ministry is called Hart Rescue. We both heard the call to the road at about the same time and came to similar visions without ever speaking with each other beforehand about it. God is building an army of His road warriors. We had a wonderful visit on Sunday at the Community Church of Perry(Florida). We were warmly welcomed by Pastor Dennis, our angels Cecil and Laverne, and a congregation of about 40 joyous and loud-singing Brothers and Sisters. We were invited to tell about our ministry, met with Bobby, Ann Marie and Louise to give advice and prayer about his health issues and possible VA benefits claim. It's hard to write down and report all that God has been orchestrating on this journey. We meet and speak with so many people. We write down their names and a little about each one and we know God hears our conversations, hears our prayers and works in us and them as He wills. Our list of new friends grows each day, Bob, Jerry and Bonnie, Mark and Melinda, Kaylon and Belinda, Reale, Paul, Jody and Don, Renee, Bill, Lanny. A smile, a kind word, encouragement, hope. We serve a God who gives us these and more, and asks us to give the same to others. It's not always easy or convenient, but as we are comforted, so we must comfort others. 2 Corinthians 3-7 has been a powerful scripture in our life and we rest on its power for the ministry He has given us. All praise and glory to God. |

Good morning from Mississippi
Good morning from Paul B. Johnson State Park, McLaurin, MS
Devotionals help us bring Scripture to a more practical application. They seem to make what we do and how we think more relevant to the world we live in. Jesus Calling by Sarah Young is a devotional given to me a year ago and has been one of my favorites this year. Today's entry is especially appropriate for where we are in our journey and the Ministry of Miles. I quote: "I am preparing you for what is on the road ahead, just around the bend. Take time to be still in My Presence so that I can strengthen you. The busier you become, the more you need this time apart with Me. So many people think that time spent with Me is a luxury they cannot afford. As a result, they live and work in their own strength-until that becomes depleted. Then they cry out to Me for help or turn away in bitterness.
How much better it is to walk close to Me, depending on My strength and trusting Me in every situation. If you live in this way, you will do less but accomplish far more. Your unhurried pace of living will stand out in this rush-crazed age. Some people may deem you lazy, but many more will be blessed by your peacefulness. Walk in the Light with Me, and you will reflect Me to the watching world." These words blessed me this morning and I pray, we both pray, they will bless you today and every day.

December 24, 2013
Greetings from Lufkin, TX. December 24, 2013 Thoughts in my journal this morning as I began my quiet time. "Thank You, Lord for this place You have prepared for us. I keep remembering John 14, about the place Jesus is preparing for us with The Father and Him in Heaven and I come to the present moment and where God is leading us each day. Each place is the place He wants us to be and each day is an opportunity to serve Him, to preach Him whether we stand up and shout to the world or talk face to face with the person in front of us at that moment. Do not rush the time away, do not be in a hurry to get to the next place WE think we are supposed to be. Get with God's itinerary and HIS timetable, work where HE tells us to work, stay where HE tells us to stay and rest in the surety that HE knows what's best for us and will provide all we need to attain it, whether in this place or the next. Thank you,Lord". We pray for Omar in Denton, TX, Don from Oregon living with his mom in Tyler, TX, The Pease River Cowboy Church in Goodlett, TX, Pastor Josh, Norma, her friend in Creede, CO, Kim and Mario, Greg and his ministry, and others we have spoken with whose names and needs are known by God. As always we pray for our family and friends, Shiloh Christian Church, God's grace and mercy for our country and world. Merry Christmas to all and Happy Birthday to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. |

Fwd: Ministry of Miles

December 19, 2013. The tech stuff is beyond confusing. Too much, too fast and too expensive. Add to that the new home on wheels and we are in a 21st century free fall, except for the free part. The main point of it all is that God gave us a plan and we have surrendered to it lock, stock and barrel. We are in Goodlett, TX in The Olde Towne Cotton Gin RV Park(google it) and have been here two nights and will be staying until Sunday because of very severe weather in east Texas and beyond that to Florida expected over the weekend. We need to avoid severe weather as Branson, MO is our witness. We stopped at the Groom Cross a few days ago(google it). It was very inspiring and humbling. We will be going to Pease River Cowboy Church here in Goodlett on Sunday, so God is giving us opportunity to minister, but be ministered to as well. God is Good. Your Old Town experience and our Olde Town experience and the many people we have encountered so far on this journey every place we stop and visit, confirms the need we all have for Jesus Christ and the life He offers to those who reach out to Him in faith. We are where God has called us and we will move on or stay as He directs. No agenda and no time table but His. Pass this along to our Shiloh family. I'd like to post your email and this one to the Ministry of Miles website, but................H

How is the trip so far? I took our teens into Old Town last night and we handed out some homemade candies to people with church cards attached. We would hand them out to people and then simply wish them a Merry Christmas. The smiles from the drunkards, homeless, young couples and families really had an impact on me. A simple act of kindness brought smiles to the dirtiest and most hopeless of faces. Hope you and Karen get your hearts filled in the same way as you travel.

The journey has begun. We left Fort Collins and are now in the wilds of the Flying J Truck Stop in Limon, CO, our first night in our home on the road. We were able to visit with a WW2 vet and Vietnam Marine at a fuel stop in Fort Morgan. People just want to talk and be listened to. We feel good about where God is taking us. We are at peace and in the arms of a loving and faithful God. Thank you for your prayers.

There have been a number of challenges in getting Ministry of Miles set up and hitting the road as we have been called to do. With help from friends at church we set up the basic website, but it's tough when the teachers are Phd's and the students are barely out of Kindergarten. We will press on. Even this post is an experiment for us.
The motor home is almost ready to go, but we are waiting for above freezing weather and fairer weather to the East before we start our journey. God had us moving at warped speed in September, but has slowed us to a crawl during October and November. We will press on, in His timing and to the places He directs us. Praise the Lord.
