Not only are the counties we drove in today named after influential military men, the first names of these men reveal a lot about what influenced their parents. Daniel Morgan, John Newton, Israel Putnam, Nathanael Greene, (all Biblical names) and William Jasper (a name which derives from the German, meaning "resolute protector"). And who says there isn't a Judeo-Christian foundation for our country?
