As pretty as the Chapel Christmas Tree is here at Source of Light Ministries, flanked by some of the flags of the nations in which we have missionaries and branch missions; and as pretty as the Christ of the Ozarks at the Great Passion Play looks with the lighted Nativity scene in front of it; and as pretty as many Christmas light displays around our country and world may be, it is most important that we understand and realize that there is only ONE TRUE LIGHT OF THE WORLD--JESUS CHRIST.
Today we celebrated The Lord's Day and The Lord's Birthday and as we gathered in churches for worship and in homes for family and fellowship celebrations, there were many moments for us to reflect on the reason for the season, on Charlie Brown's plea from 51 years ago for someone to explain what Christmas is all about, or any number of other topics for discussion or contention about this holiday we celebrate even though there are skeptics, doubters, cynics, purists or any number of other "labels".
Something happened some 2000 years ago, which divided our years from B.C. to A.D., which caused most of our calendars to designate December 25th as Christmas.......and that something.......no, that Someone....Jesus Christ.....came from heaven to earth to be The Light of the World. As believers in the Truth of the 66 books of the Hebrew Bible and New Testament and the life Karen and I have chosen to live in obedience to the author and perfecter of our faith, Jesus Christ, we see the Light in the people we interact with, the years they have lived in obedience to the "call" and the many people touched by the Light radiating through us. Thank You Lord, Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas to all. Let Your Light continue to shine brightly.
