January 23, 2019. Eureka Springs, AR. Weather, Again

The country has certainly had it's share of severe weather in the recent past. With so much equipment available to so many meteorologists and weather people, it's amazing how much precision is possible in predicting what our tomorrows will look like, weather-wise. Some news programs, start with a weather report, end with a weather report and have two additional weather reports in the half-hour time frame. National news usually reports the weather as it is occurring and looks at all the Pacific activity to warn us about what is to come. Hurricanes have been given human names since 1950 and winter storms since 2012. I'm sure there are many Katrina's, Harvey's, Sandy's, and others with hurricane names who want some other claim to fame than a deadly or destructive weather phenomenon.
Right now there is a rash of cold weather around the country, minus temperatures and wind chills are making life difficult for many. Today it was cold here, for Arkansas, and most of our outdoor tasks were put on hold, because of the combination of cold, wind and humidity which made it conducive to indoor tasks and procrastination for the outdoor ones. Not much we can do, but layer up, cover up and enjoy the slower pace, try to stay healthy and hope we don't end up with a storm named after us.
